You newbs have it easy these days Access to loads of free sounds, software that is practically or actually free. I used a free piece of software that I cut my teeth on, if you closed it your work was gone! So I had to finish the music in one session and render it out, this helped me learn quicker, be faster and move on from crap ideas, i just recreated any good ones I had that I wanted to make a better version of. Once you get to the rendering to screen (aka exporting) check 'split mixer tracks' from the miscellaneous tab There are two ways to export a file, from the top left file menu you can hit export, or you you can click the 'render as' icon on the top right. After that, you can load them back into a new project and continue working on your track!! This is actually a good skill to learn now, since exporting stems is the universal way producers share music and collaborate on tracks, especially across different DAWs. This will export each track in the mixer separately, so you will get an audio file with just your kick, just your snare, just your melody, etc. Once you chose a destination (I usually export into a folder, to keep everything neat!) check 'split mixer track' in the miscellaneous tab. Once everything is assigned a mixer track, you can export your project in 2 ways, either by going to 'File' then 'Export' or clicking the render as button (see picture below). In the channel rack, click the drop down menu and select 'all', this will make sure you are looking at all the sounds and audio files in your track, ensuring you don't miss anything in the export.

Unfortunately I don't really know a workaround for the plugins not working fully, besides unlocking the full version or loading free third party plugins, but there is a way to export your tracks into audio files, allowing you the freedom to load them into a new project the next time you want to work on it! First you want to make sure all your channels in the channel rack are assigned to a slot in the mixer track. You can create a full track and save it, but when you attempt to open it again you will be unable to do so until you buy or unlock the program. Some will pause all sounds for 2 seconds every 15 seconds, or they will timeout and lock after a few minutes while some are fully functional, but will lock once you close and reopen the project.
